returns to the Bull’s Head Inn

The Bull’s Head Inn will host a Twelfth Night Celebration on Saturday, January 11, 2020 starting at 6:00 PM in the historic establishment at 105 Park Place, the oldest building in the Village of Cobleskill. The Twelfth Night Celebration is an internationally recognized celebration marking the end of the Christmas season with food, drink, music and festivities.

Historically, the event represents the twelfth day after the birth of Jesus Christ, when the Three Wise Men from the East arrived to visit the Christ child born in Bethlehem. Many of the Christian traditions of today have been passed down for generations that conclude with taking down Christmas decorations and the burning of the Christmas tree. Over time Twelfth Night Celebrations became festive celebrations which included elaborate feasts and game-like traditions. 

The Twelfth Night Celebration at the Bull’s Head Inn will present a full evening’s worth of entertainment, food and drink. Entertainment for the evening will be provided by the local 14 person a cappella singing group, New Day.  Directed by Mark Pracher, New Day will present a series of traditional events in song and will be assisted by the evening’s Lord and Lady of the Manor, Ron Cleeve & Geanne Christiansen. The evening’s traditions will include the welcoming of the guests, a Wassail Toast to the InnKeepers, pageantry, serving of the feast, serving of the Twelfth Night Cake, and a concert of seasonal music in honor of the newly designated King and Queen of Twelfth Night.

The Twelfth Night Feast buffet created by the Bull’s Head Inn Chef Nancy Manganaro will include a carving station with oven-roasted ham and turkey, maple & walnut butter sweet potatoes, cruciferous vegetable medley, potatoes gratiné, Svenska köttbullar, penne casserole with Neapolitan sauce, minced pork pie, chicken & pasta al burro, salad, and rolls & butter.
